Plant Walk This Saturday!

Bring your boots and come enjoy a plant walk at the Heathen Homestead this Saturday May 20th at 5pm!

Above is a gorgeous mullein plant we found near the well.

We have lots of wild medicinal plants and are happy to talk about the ones we know, and happy to hear your knowledge on the plants as well!

Narrow leaf plantain abounds here. Come hear about some of the uses for this plentiful plant!

We will walk through fields, the medicinal herb garden in progress, and the woods.

Free! 18217 Teman Road Beaverdam. We will have a baby in a wagon, feel free to bring your own.

Wildcrafted Chickweed Oil and Vinegar

We had a bumper crop of volunteer chickweed in one of our raised beds from last year. Today we harvested the gorgeous green goodness and started an oil we will use for a salve and a vinegar we will use for food!

Very excited for this nutritious and powerful plant medicine!!! Happy Spring yall!

New products coming soon!

Took advantage of the mucky weather to start 7 new tinctures and 4 new oils that we will be selling on their own and in other products like salves and balms! Our apothecary is growing, and we are so excited to be better prepared for healing our community!

Check back in 6 weeks or so for white oak, elderberry, usnea, motherwort, blue vervain, dandelion root, and St. John’s wort tinctures, as well as borage, St. John’s wort, mugwort, and yarrow oils!

Great Market Today!

We had a great time today at the pop up A Day For Us market for women and minority run businesses! The organizers did a great job and turnout was fabulous despite the cold weather. Also, it supported a good cause – we and other vendors contributed 15% of our sales to the Virginia Anti Violence Project. You can donate here.

We also have to give a huge thank you to our friends and family who came out to support us and the other vendors. It was great to break from this cold weather and get to see so many smiling faces. We would have nothing without our friends and family. They also watched the kids for us so we could get down to the business of vending.

Items we still have for sale:

1 oz or 2 oz tinctures of: lemon balm, elecampagne, elderberry, milky oats, crampbark, red raspberry, yarrow, mullein $8 or $15

Smoke Less For Success Herbal Tea 1/2 or 1 oz – mullein, wood betony, chamomile, lemon balm, and cinnamon $3-$6

Lavender and Calendula Lip Healing Balm – in natural or pink shimmer $2.50 a tube, $4 a tin, containing organic shea butter, beeswax, calendula oil, lavender oil, lavender essential oil, and pink mica for the pink version

We also have a stock of furniture for sale. We can do custom pieces and signs for others as well.

An example of a routed sign made by David. Custom shapes, stain/paint, and of course words, are all available. Just get in touch!

Gaia Women’s Gathering

Just a heads up, Mo will be attending and teaching at the 10th annual Gaia Women’s Gathering this May 5-7 at Camp Albermarle outside of Charlottesville, VA.

There will be many teachers and vendors at this event.

Mo will be teaching a Know Your Rights workshop and a Prisons, PTSD, and Herbalism workshop.

“For over a decade the Gaia Gathering for Women has been a space where the women of our region can come together to learn, strengthen community connections and be deeply nourished in many ways. Classes in herbalism and holistic living are taught by a fruitful array of gifted teachers witha wide range of topics to support healing and connection. This year we are honored to feature renowned herbalist and author Deb Soule of Avena Botanicals. Deliciously healthy, organic food with gluten free options and the joyful singing and drumming of our Saturday night Beltane celebration are also integral parts of the gathering. Our event is held just north of Charlottesville at the lush and beautiful Camp Albemarle, a retreat space on the banks of the Moorman River. With a bounty of native plants and green space for camping and contemplation the camp continues to be a wonderful setting for the Gathering. We hope joining us will become a spring tradition in your self-care tool kit as it for many of us and we look forward to welcoming you at the gathering!” – from the event page
